GARLAND - May 17, 2021 - On Sunday, May 16, at approximately 9:20 p.m. Garland Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in an apartment community in the 6300 block of Naaman Forest Blvd.

The female caller frantically advised the 9-1-1 operator that her ex-boyfriend had fired shots inside the location. During the call the operator heard additional gunshots. The female caller advised the dispatcher that she had been shot. The operator also heard an argument between the caller and a male. The call was then disconnected.

Within minutes, responding officers made entry into the apartment, and found a woman with multiple apparent gunshot wounds. They also found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The woman was pronounced deceased on scene. The man was transported by Garland Fire and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victim has been identified as Keandra Long, 28. The man is identified as Gregory Lowe, 36, of Mesquite.

A preliminary investigation and evidence found at the scene lead detectives to believe that Lowe shot and killed Long and then turned the gun on himself. Detectives will wait on a cause of death from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office before making an official ruling.

Garland Officers had responded to a previous family disturbance between the victim and suspect in July of 2020. That incident was determined to be a verbal argument over a cell phone in which no violence occurred.
